FIL and Balance? I Agree.

 

I can see this becoming my fave album of theirs, but it isn't yet. Each listen unlocks something new, though, which is a super good sign. Easily their best opener yet.

just threw this on. i hope this sticks with me more than their previous. in completely blind, haven't listened to these in a long while so I've no idea what direction they're taking or anything.

oh dear this third track is gorgeous

 

I actually dislike most of FIL's recorded work, but I loved the band's live show a loootttttt. For my money, the band has never recreated in-studio what they're capable of live.

 

Thus is very good

To each their own! I still think Absent Sounds is their best. I'm not disappointed with the new sound; I was expecting a more fleshed out Absent Sounds, which is what I can hear in parts. But the songs just aren't clicking for me like they are for others.

 

Hello is the show-stopper for me. I automatically pause whatever I'm doing when it comes on.

I feel like I dislike it for the same reason you are drawn to it.
If that makes sense

 

For me it is the whispered not quite falsetto vocals over the repeated instrument. It's what I enjoy least about where FIL has gone.
