So is FIL done? Played the hell out of Able Bodies and Absent Sounds when they were released. Still listen to them pretty regularly. Need to check out his solo stuff.
Yeah. On Patreon he has said he has most of the FIL album demod. And he also mentioned he’s a part of another group but didn’t divulge more on it. So definitely a lot more Joe coming.
Nah, i'd imagine work under his own name is much easier to produce, as it's mostly stripped back stuff. Whereas his work for FIL is usually more layered and more "full band" sounding, so it may take a bit longer to produce and get out.
I'm hopeful the new FIL will be more like the older stuff now that he has his solo project. Everything after Absent Sounds did nothing for me. I saw them at least 4 times on the Able Bodies cycle and I remember Joe being so excited when he announced they sign for Triple Crown.
Love their first three albums, even Absent Sounds. I was disappointed by EFBN especially when the lead single The Monster was nuts and honestly one of my favorite FIL songs to date. The rest of the album did not live up to that song. Dimly Lit was… not for me at all.
I think he was firing on all cylinders with Absent Sounds and EFBN. I like Dimly Lit, but not as much as I did en it came out. It’s a little to long for my liking and a lot of it blends together for me to the point where I don’t remember which songs are which, for the most part. Garden Bed is fantastic though
I really like For Everyone. Maybe not quite as much as Found in the Smoke but it’s close. He’s really channeling his inner Sufjan on this one, especially on Just Gettin By
