Still wild that they got Wes Borland to play bass on Heroine. I still think that’s a pretty special album for that scene.

 

Heroine is still incredible and they did some really boundary pushing stuff on it for the time.

It’s easily their best record if you ask me. Wish we got another record during that era with Sonny.

 

unfortunately he fucked up his voice pretty good around that time, iirc, and I think that had a lot to do with it.

 

Yeah, that was a big reason he left from what I remember too. Big shame all around.

 

He kept messing his voice up and developed polyps often from what I recall, just couldn't meet the touring needs and demands on his voice.

FFTL Sonny Moore throat trouble update

 

I remember meeting him at Warped Tour in like 2005 and he basically couldn't talk unless they were performing.

 

I think Sonny’s vocal issues is the biggest what if in the scene. Just signed to a major label, Wes helped with some mainstream breakthrough, started playing arenas (opening for FOB but they intended to stay in that realm following a club tour that never happened)

 

matt is my favourite vocalist and i'm probably the only person to ever say that.

 

another crazy thing with this band: no one talks about the album where Spencer from Periphery is the singer.

 

He was the singer on the og ep right? Listened to that so much in high school

 

I prefer the albums with Matt actually

 

that's my favorite FFTL album next to the first two with sonny, dead trees is insanely catchy and well excocted musically.

the title track alone is one of my favorites from them, so good

 

I only liked the title track off Dead Trees and nothing else tbh

I much prefer the albums with his vocals as well, but yeah we're probably in the minority

 

Dead Trees standouts - Dead Trees, I solemnly swear that i am up to no good, and Black & White.

I will say my favorite albums are both Matt led with Thrones being my favorite. I am willing to bet most people who have stuck with FFTL like or prefer Matt on lead.
