Enjoying this but it feels like a slight comedown from the last record, less obviously hooky and without that central theme tying it together.
Feeling similarly. I listen to this band casually at best, so I'm not really putting a ton of thought/time into this, but nothing on here is getting stuck in my head the way songs from What's Past did. I think "Down & Out" is my favorite song on here.
I was crazy for Bear Your Mind and then less crazy for What's past and I feel similarly to this... thought that Tips Are Appreciated was their best song in forever and it was just a tour EP thing so was excited for what was coming but meh.
They hadn't stuck with me at all until WPIP so I was all onboard for some sort of meteoric progression 'cause that record came out of the blue for me. Ah well. It's a solid set of songs but nothing really grabs you. Still excited to see them, hoping they play a lot off of WPIP because I haven't seen them live yet!
So I just revisited TDAG and BYM for the first time in forever and both held up way more than I remembered. TDAG is still pretty rough sometimes but BYM is actually great.
I love your BYM but it was my introductory point to the band. I think WPIP is also pretty great but the raw emotion on BYM just sticks out more to me. WPIP introduced the more pop rocky sound that they went full throttle with on PIT.
Finally getting around to listening to this. The Grass Isn't Greener pulls pretty heavily from After Midnight by Blink. But agree with many of the other posters. I still think Those Days is my favorite, but that was my entry point so that makes sense.
This release has been the only release of theirs that I'm into. This is close to being the best album to come out this year, I think every song has great hooks and I get Force of Will and Second Wind stuck in my head all the time.
Finally listening to this properly and it’s really fun. Cloud Sick, The Grass Isn’t Greener and Ocular Patdown in particular get stuck in my head a lot.
I’m not mad they moved my date, it obviously was the right move, I’m just annoyed they moved it from starting at 8PM to starting at 11PM. I have other plans that day so I can do both, but a three band show starting at 11PM sucks.
Yeah there’s a Homesafe/Jail Socks show the same day earlier at the same venue. I would have preferred they not have rescheduled the show on that day or even just cancelled it but it is what it is I guess.
Does anyone know if the tour is still happening? They posted two weeks ago about it being postponed because Cory tested positive for COVID and had severe symptoms but I got no word from the venue that the show was postponed and tickets are still being sold as if the show is happening.
