Watched this tonight, loved Elordi as the "monster". Victor is a giant petty prick, Elizabeth's interactions with the creature were weird bordering on creepy. Did think the ending with Victor and the "monster" was sweet. Looking forward to the sequel where the "monster" becomes Santa Claus.
I don't think this is great so far but 45 minutes in and I am at least finding it far more watchable than I expected based on some of the reactions. Seems like it would be a cozy October movie.
We enjoyed it. Some parts were hokey but I felt it was of a piece and Elordi was fascinating as the Creature.
Elordi was good. The movie is very watchable. It's just overall not impressive really, Oscar Isaac kinda sucks in it, and the original novel is a masterpiece--maybe one of the best of all time.
"Some of what I am about to tell you is fact. Some is not... but it is all true." This sticks with me for some reason.
Very unexciting, ultimately not very interesting; I didn’t hate it or anything and I bet it would have been a fun October watch, but I agree with most of the criticisms I’ve seen although I didn’t think Oscar Isaac’s performance was out of place here. I also thought that despite there being some beautiful shots throughout, its aesthetic was pretty grating, possibly even more than the writing. (And the CGI was frustrating.) Thought the first chapter was the most enjoyable and the rest was mostly fine if not pretty bad.
