One of the unintentionally funny things about the original book is how often Dr. Frankenstein is sick or incapacitated. It feels like every other chapter that he catches something that keeps him in bed for months at a time. The story ends up spanning years because so much of it is him worrying about The Monster while he is lying in bed.
one of my favorite novels. never seen a Frankenstein film adaptation before but cautiously excited for this
Not playing in any theater near me this Friday. Guess I’ll be waiting until next month to watch it on the small screen. Thanks, Netflix.
this was good. glad I saw it on the big screen, putting this cinematography onto streaming quality is criminal. that shot of the creature waking up in the river with the tower in the background is insane, Guillermo in his bag
Thought this was pretty great. Exquisite del Toro production design and costumes as always. Jacob Elordi is the mvp for sure. Thought it was an ok performance from Oscar Isaac.
there's no such thing as an Oscar Isaac performance that isn't exceptional thought him and Waltz had better chemistry than him and Mia Goth which was funny and good
Loved this! I’ve been pretty mixed on Guillermo despite wanting to like his stuff, this was one of his better ones. Visually stunning. A little cheesy but that’s just how he rolls.
It’s trailer-fied and doesn’t really reflect the tone of the movie, though some cool visuals are spoiled if that matters at all to you.
I feel like it’s a pretty straightforward / classic story that’s hard to “spoil” with a trailer, unless they previously didn’t show the monster, but they already have plenty
Saw this last night and really enjoyed it! I thought it captured the pace and tone of the book extraordinarily well.
