I think of what the Menzingers did on America (You’re Freakin Me Out) vs what Frank did and ... yeah ain’t even close. Make America Great Again is terrible and I feel embarrassed listening to it. I really dislike that album.
this is pretty much how I feel. Trying too hard, good way to put it. Be More Kind seems better as time passes, but maybe in part because No Man's Land was such an epic fail. Hopefully he is aware of this and is going back to his roots
That’s why I like Eye of The Day. He told his own story about a story, similar to Silent Key. Sister Rosetta really did feel like a Wikipedia hahaha
As songs, just musically, I actually really like Sister Rosetta and Rescue Annie a lot. Like a real lot, haha. But the lyrics to both make me cringe so hard.
Disagree. It’s a horrendous production, however noble the idea or interesting the subject matter may actually be.
"the first time that the beat drops at the bar its going to be biblical" is still such a dumb lyric lol oh boy here we go
i think its a song, someone in the replies said spotify jumped the gun and had something up earlier and pulled it but, if hes doing a whole mailing list thing, its gotta be more than a song.
I’m so not excited for new Frank haha, which if you told me I’d say this 6 years ago I’d fall over. Please do not write a concept album about quarantine. Please no.
it's a new song he has been playing at live streams/smaller events in the UK during the pandemic, it's been posted and discussed in this thread too i believe if you scroll back enough, basically it's a new song about like, going to shows again once the pandemic is over (The Gathering), and the first line of the song is "the first time the beat drops at the bar its going to be biblical".
Obviously this is something I prefer to hear that it could be faster and catchier, but I am way to cynical with Frank and I trust nothing until he redeems himself with a good album lol
Lol yeah ever since he said some shit about songs on BMK sounding like they could be played in a german night club, i withhold all expectation.
If I recall correctly, he said he was working with Rich Costey again (who did Tape Deck Heart) on the Chris Demakes podcast. I could be misremembering that, though. That was only a few weeks ago, and he talked about the new album coming out late this year, so I’m wondering if this song is just a one-off.
