He performed a bunch of new ones last night in his European tour—they sounded excellent. Particularly Punches
I definitely agree! His last 2 albums were desperately missing literally all of that, mostly the energy.
Yeah, I absolutely love this album too. I listen to it constantly. I wouldn't flat out say it's his best album at this point - I've never actually ranked Frank Turner albums - but this is certainly right up there with his best stuff for me. Definitely a return to form after two back-to-back stumbles.
Tape Deck Heart England Keep My Bones Love Ire and Song Positive Songs for Negative People FTHC Poetry of the Deed Be More Kind No Mans Land i dont think i've ever listened to Sleep is for the Week
I think my two favorite albums from him are England Keep My Bones & Tape Deck Heart. FTHC, PSFNP, PotD & L,I&S are all a slight step below those two but still phenomenal. It's embarrassing to admit but I can't remember ever listening to Sleep Is For The Week, but I'm sure I must have at some point. Be More Kind & No Man's Land are both bad albums, although there are a few songs from each one that I genuinely like a lot.
If we’re doing this, here goes: Tape Deck Heart England Keep My Bones Love Ire and Song FTHC Positive Songs For Negative People Sleep Is For the Week Poetry of the Deed Be More Kind No Man’s Land The top 3 rotate depending on my mood, and I feel like FTHC over PS4NP could just be recency bias, but I’ve thought it would settle in that range for me when I first listened. I’ve never found NML as awful as most people, but I also don’t find it particularly good. There’s only 2-3 songs I ever return to on it. I could probably say the same for BMK, but the highs on that one are significantly higher than anything on NML.
I spent a long time and many listens trying to get Be More Kind to click with me and work as an album. I ended up cutting it down to 10 tracks, but honestly there's probably 7 really good songs for me on that album and no more. No Man's Land only has a couple of songs that I like, but Graveyard Of The Outcast Dead is just straight up a fucking great song and an awesome Frank Turner song. It's probably the only song on the album that doesn't feel kinda forced and feels like he could've written it for any album and wasn't trying to hit a specific subject.
Love, Ire & Song England Keep My Bones Tape Deck Heart Positive Songs for Negative People Sleep Is for the Week Poetry of the Deed FTHC No Man’s Land/Be More Kind Pretty easy ranking for me. Tape Deck Heart, Positive Songs and Sleep are all pretty close though.
Listened to this again for the first time since Feb and man it's great, excited to see these songs next week

Only took a few photos, man, what a show. Have no idea how this dude plays for an hour & 45 minutes every night. Maybe he just doesn’t speak the other 22 hours of the day? Only negative is that he didn’t play Punches. The supporting bands (especially The Bronx) were great too.
