Looks like “A Wave Across the Bay” is coming out this week at some point. Premiering on a radio show tomorrow and then officially out at some point after that. Based on the live versions I’ve heard of it, I’m expecting to be pleased.
Premiering now on BBC 6 so assuming we get it sometime later today. Not sure if this is already widely known but this song is apparently about Scott Hutchinson. edit: i gather the song used to be titled Song for Scott so yea no secret lol
He played this at the LA show. When you strip away the arrangement to just his guitar it’s an even harder listen.
The Song for Scott is good but I absolutely hate that lyric about hitting the water. Just makes me feel uneasy.
Apparently there are some bonus tracks/a deluxe version of FTHC. I'm in for that. Love to hear some full band and acoustic version's of Frank. This record seems to a little under the radar by typical Frank standards. Some ok songs, some good songs and a great song released so far. With lots on there there's more of chance to find songs to connect to. Track listing FTHC – Standard edition No. Title Length 1. "Non Serviam" 1:58 2. "The Gathering" 2:39 3. "Haven't Been Doing So Well" 3:15 4. "Untainted Love" 5. "Fatherless" 6. "My Bad" 7. "Miranda" 4:00 8. "A Wave Across a Bay" 3:44 9. "The Resurrectionists" 10. "Punches" 11. "Perfect Score" 12. I’ve seen videos of “Untainted Love,” “Fatherless,” and “Punches,” and I’m feeling pretty good that this one will be better than the last couple albums. Can’t wait.
I didn't realize there was a deluxe version with extra tracks. I just did the same thing and preordered it now. Thanks for the heads up.
I listened to the songs he released as early singles again yesterday. I’m feeling more positive and when you listen to them consecutively and not just as one off singles I do feel a little more of the “recapture” sound he’s for on this one with The Sleeping Souls and Rich Costey. Frank’s a better storyteller when the subject matter is very personal as well.
I just happened to see it. Sometimes his bsides are better than some album tracks, plus professionally recorded acoustic versions can be awesome too.
I spoke too soon - his webstore won't let me buy the deluxe version of the album in the US, and I can't find a separate US store...
His US store is Flagship Apparel. Go here!. I’ve ordered from the site before so I got the email that said there’s only 200 CDs available. I’m kinda surprised it’s still there.
