Listening to Stevie Wonder all week reminded me how much influence Frank took from him on Channel Orange. There are influences everybody lifts from, but borrowing from Stevie is pretty must just announcing that you're on a higher level
Frank's producer has been saying he's coming back "soon", but I don't think "soon" in Frank years means the same as it does to us mere mortals...
My fave post I made on AP was re: the upcoming album when that dude was v upset about his thread being shut and I dropped the instant classic line "I guess boys do cry"
Frank Ocean Producer Malay: "Frank’s Exploring Different Vibes Completely on This Album "A lot of the stuff on this new album was done with a handheld mic sitting in the control room," Malay says of the upcoming release. "Frank's exploring different vibes completely on this album. I wouldn’t say it's vocally looser but just his mentality; it doesn’t seem as meticulous at certain times." When asked to discuss the album's release date, Malay said: I always tell people: When he’s ready, the world is gonna get it. It could be tomorrow… well not tomorrow but maybe a month [laughs]. We’ve all been working hard. He’s been working super hard. I feel like he’s working harder than he’s ever worked in his life. I’m excited for everyone to hear it. I think people are going to be pleasantly surprised, for sure. Frank Ocean Producer Malay: "Frank’s Exploring Different Vibes Completely on This Album" | News | Pitchfork
The producer comment about 'working hard' on the album gives me hope, at least, VS. just the silence we've been getting.
Is it dropping today? A bunch of bands/artists have posted a link to his Soundcloud on Facebook which doesn't have any songs on at the moment. Examples being Local Natives, Say Lou Lou, Rachel Sermanni.. Edit: Scrap that. Looks like Soundcloud or something is going wild on Facebook. Just posted another artist's Soundcloud, Nadia Nair, and even Slayer's posted it..
I don't see it on Local Native's page, but I do on the other two. They also both posted a link to Nadia Nair's soundcloud, who I don't know. Also, I see 17 tracks on Frank's soundcloud, the whole last album
I would cry if it dropped today. Also, has anyone listened through all of the Lonny Breaux Collection? It's around 70 songs so it's a lot to chew on, but after spinning the first 20 or so tracks pretty consistently, I'm liking most of them. Not as good as Frank's newest stuff, but that makes sense considering he never wanted these songs released.
every time i see this thread bumped i have a mini-heart attack. My emotions can't handle this much longer.
