I don't even think I agree they channel orange is "good" at this point

 

To me, the highlights make it worth coming back to but my main problem with it is how weak the front half is.

 

Both Channel Orange and Blonde are incredible. CO was my AOTY in 2012 and Blonde is set to be my AOTY this year. Frank is easily one of my favourite artists at this point.

 

Front half is easily my favorite, haha.

 

I tried really hard to get into CO because of all the critical acclaim but I just never went back to it

 

the front half has "Thinkin Bout You", "Sweet Life", "Super Rich Kids" and "Pilot Jones" tho

 

this grew on me big time, i definitely like this more than CO at this point

 

Yeah this album definitely solidified him as one of my favorite artists. It's so consistently beautiful

 

Channel Orange is still in my top 5 of all time. I really need to spend more time with this album though, which I'm hoping the vinyl will encourage me to do. It came out during a time when I didn't really have time to devote to listening to new music (a lot of my most anticipated albums this year have fallen into that category, sadly), so I never got to let it sink in. I honestly can't even remember how most of it sounds, sadly.

 

This is probably my favorite album this year, and I'd consider Channel Orange decent at best.

 

super rich kids sucks

 

its plodding and an extremely worn out, boring narrative he does nothing to enrich or twist

 

"Super Rich Kids" is one of the most colourful and vibrant songs on the album. I love Frank's melodies so much on that song

 

Super Rich Kids would be a slog if it weren't for Earl tbh

 

Most of the album is bloated and boring, I've been saying that since Day 1 people! Wake up!


Sweet Life and Thinkin Bout You are still fantastic songs, though.

 

I mean Blonde is much better but CO is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. Only major throwaway outside of the skits is maybe "Crack Rock"? I think the highs outweigh the lows significantly

Ive never really been a fan. The lyrics are the highlight, the melodies and music are pretty boring

 

Love Frank's harmonies on "Super Rich Kids".

 

i always thought CO was an incredible piece of work but i honestly don't think i'll ever listen to it again in full because blonde really is that much better.
