Yeah, totally agree that Foxy could have had what The Struts have. Such a shame they couldn't release another album quite like the self-titled.
You aren't entirely far off I suppose, but Foxy was a complete wild card compared to The Struts. Foxy had an insane live energy that translated well in their first few albums. I guess it's fair to compare Church of Rock & Roll with The Struts, but Foxy was polished chaos...and THEN the other qualities you mentioned (theatrics, glam, etc) came next. The Struts can be categorized a bit easier, if that makes sense.
I love all of Foxy's albums so so so much, so idk I get why people's fave is self-titled or Church of Rock n' Roll. Gonzo just spoke to me on a deeper level.
I'll be overjoyed as long as it's much better than Gonzo. That record was terrible. Anyways, time to put on the self-titled record
I'm just so ready to see them live again. I've missed them so fucking much. And Gonzo is one of my favorite albums of all time, but if I had to guess I think they'll probably go for a more self titled sound for the comeback.
Based on Eric's recent solo output, and touring with Macklemore, I would certainly based on something more polished than Gonzo again. Hopefully.
I love Church. I also love The Darkness and Justin Hawkins' (holy) touch is all over that album, so there's that.
Been blasting S/T on repeat all day at the office and getting so stoked at the idea of being able to see these dudes live again. I think the last time I saw them was 2008? Crazy. Oh Lord, Count Me Out, and The Only Way To My Heart is with an Axe are my favorite tracks off the album.
Don't hate me but.... I couldn't get into Church at all aside from Holy Touch, I Like It, The Temple, and I guess The Streets
