I mean, Mystique isn't even involved in the story but I know it's not going to be just like the comics anyway

 

Kinda forgot we're getting three Fox movies next year.

Apr 3 - X-Men: New Mutants
Jun 1 - Deadpool 2
Nov 2 - X-Men: Dark Phoenix

 

Glad he's landed a comic book film after stepping down from Daredevil to develop the Sinister Six film that never materialized. He's a good fit for something like this. My only fear is that Deadpool is too overbearing and takes too much of the spotlight.

 

So in this timeline would it be

First Class
DOFP
Deadpool
Apocalypse
New Mutants
Deadpool 2
Dark Phoenix
X-Force

I'm expecting New Mutants to follow the First Class timeline (Alexandria Shipp is supposed to return as Storm) and as far as I know Deadpool can be in any timeline but the table is always open if they wish to collide him with the First Class characters down the road.

 

Storm and Professor X aren't in New Mutants. They were allegedly in an early version of the script but aren't actually part of the story they're telling. Though, depending on whatever they do with this chronologically, I'd assume it's still in the same world. (Speaking of New Mutants, I hate that it was my most anticipated Fox Marvel film by far until the idiotic casting of Henry Zaga as Sunspot. I adore the classic New Mutants, but I can't muster nearly as much excitement when they can't get an iconic mutant's race right.)

As for Deadpool and X-Force, Fox has made it seem like that world will eventually cross over with this current timeline, but for now, I'm considering it as its own little pocket until we actually see that happen.

 

I'm just dreaming here, but I would love it if Cable used his time traveling ability to bring Laura/X-23 into the group (due to Logan taking place in its own timeline). A film featuring the X-Force, Laura, and the main X-Men group would be interesting.

Is Sunspot full Brazilian? I don't know too much about the character's background. According to Henry's wiki he is full Brazilian.

 

Oh man, I want more Dafne Keen X-23, but I also don't want Cable to bring her in like that, lol. Like, using her in a sorta Hope Summers role could be fun, but it'd also be kinda lame. With all their weird timeline stuff, they should just introduce a "new" Laura still played by Dafne Keen.

Sunspot is full Brazilian, but he's also black, which is very important. In first comics appearance, his powers first manifest as he defends himself against a racist that he's playing against in soccer. And, being black in Brazil carries a lot of weight in a pretty specific cultural way. Henry being Brazilian but not black, in that context, is really bad. If you check out the New Mutants thread here, you'll find a good article I found and posted there on the topic.

 

Maybe in the Deadpool timeline, Laura can be found already in her suit and ready to go (it would be nice if the prostitution stuff is avoided). I never thought about a modern X-23 appearing. I'd happily take more of Dafne. Her performance was gold in Logan and it would be nice to see her grow into the role as long as Fox doesn't mess up and wait forever to release anything that her character is in.

For a company like Fox I don't think finding a black/Brazilian actor would be much of a task. It's definitely is a bummer that Sunspot will not be 100% Sunspot. I'll check out the article you mentioned.

 

New Mutants reportedly wrapped production in under two months. That would be insane if its true. There are zero set photos. lol

 

I have no idea why Fox didn't showcase New Mutants or Deadpool 2 at SDCC. People who are not familiar with X-Men comics are going to need to know what New Mutants is.

 

If this really is supposed to be a smaller film, that's not too surprising. As long as they keep this small and don't force some gross green screen finale like Fant4stic had (except in Limbo instead of the kinda-Negative Zone), I take that as largely a good sign. Though, it could definitely still go either way.

 

Logan winning best picture? Doubt it
Hugh Jackman winning best actor? Doubt it but it would be nice
Dafne Keen winning best supporting actress? More plausible than the two above and would also be nice

I do think that Logan has a decent chance of getting a Best Picture nom, depending on what other genre films are in the running, but I can't picture any of the cast getting nominated. I don't actively follow Oscar contenders during the year 'cause I don't care, but I'm inclined to think the best case scenario is the Best Picture nom, and then some technical awards. Maybe get Patrick Stewart some Supporting Actor attention, just as an excuse to celebrate a veteran actor.

yeah I don't think it has much of a chance at winning anything. tough competition this year, but I do think very deserving for some noms and would be exciting.

 

I would personally be annoyed if Mystique wasn't in the new film given that she was training the X-Men at the end of Apocalypse. I don't want loose ends (ending of DOTF).

 

yeah that's fair. i really wish we didn't have that ending. her training them is dumb. i don't really like her in the role but i really just don't like her character in the movies. really wish she wasn't such a forefront of them.

 

It kinda makes sense being that some of the look up to her (Nightcrawler and Storm). Singer just needed to do something with her character lol
I wouldn't be surprised if her character's story ends in this film.

 

yeah I was just never looking for a major multi film story arc with her character haha. so many better x-men characters they could've been focusing on

 

A teaser before Thor would be splendid. Fox needs to let the general audience know about this.
