I've been Team "Tatum Gambit Could Be Great" since the earliest development, but I just don't believe this is gonna happen.

With Dark Phoenix out in February and New Mutants in, what, August? If both Gambit and X-Force start shooting this year, and then a Fox sale finalizes in 2019, how's this gonna pan out? It's certainly a fascinating process.

Wait I totally forgot about New Mutants. What happened with that? I remember seeing trailers all the time in theater for it.

Comcast blows. Actually really hoping Disney gets this deal even if solely for the selfish reason of REALLY wanting Mutants in the MCU (double hoping that if that happens, they keep the New Mutants cast on board).

I've heard some rumors/theories that the deep re-shoots for The New Mutants involved trying to connect it to the greater MCU due to the Disney buy, but this Comcast news maybe debunks that? Again, buying into the theory is probably just wishful thinking on my part either way.

I think they just wanted to add a character and take it less out of the horror vein it seemed to be tapping into.

I keep hearing back and forth things about the horror side of it. I heard that it was initially written to be horror-centric, was then changed to be less so, but then they produced the trailer and it got a good response to the horror vibe, so now the studio is BACK to wanting it horror-esque? Sounds...less than promising, but I really like ATJ as Magik, at least in theory, so hoping that sticks in a world where Mutants enter the MCU.

Totally off-topic, but what is your avatar from???

This guy does paintings for the WWE: The Art of Rob Schamberger

She's the pirate princess of wrestling, Kairi Sane. Meanest elbow drop in the business.

What would be worse for the industry, a Disney purchase or a Comcast purchase?

I don’t want Disney to own Fox at all. Disney owns enough companies as is. My dream would be for Comcast to buy Fox and then the X-Men/FF reverting back to Marvel.

I can't see this getting made if Disney acquires Fox, unless it sneaks in right at the tail end after X-Force. Really just feels like a matter of where these rights land with this Fox nonsense, and also if it can get in line before Gambit gets its act together.

I'm still super into the idea of this film, though.

Comcast's current bid is for $65 billion cash.

Disney offered $52 billion in stock.

Easy to see which direction this goes.

Disney has Lucasfilm, Pixar, and Marvel but I actually would rather see them get the film division of Fox and Sky other than Comcast. Compared to Disney, Comcast is a beast and I don’t want them acquiring anything.

There are rumors this morning that the deal may be split with Comcast getting Sky and Disney getting the film division.

Disney is increasing their bid to try and beat out Comcast. I have a feeling Comcast still comes out on top.

I’ll be disappointed if Comcast gets the X-Men rights because I’m not going to watch the movies in cinemas. I’ll just wait until they go on iTunes.

Problem with this deal is that Comcast is going to change their pricing depending on who the Fox rep talks to. (just a little cable provider humor there *snicker*)

I really don't want them to get this, though. Plus, I keep recasting the X-Men for the MCU in my head and it's so fun.

I'm torn on which one I'd rather do because I feel like Com Cast would probably keep everything as is but Disney would probably kill the X-Men movies and move them over to the MCU.

Disney would probably make better movies overall, but I like the difference in style the X-films so far have had and with Deadpool, Logan and now what we've heard of New Mutants, it sounds like they are trying to do different things.

    I do not exist.

Is it bad that I'd never heard of Comcast until they bid for Fox? (I'm from the UK - not sure if that should make a difference. Perhaps someone else over here can let me know if I'm an ignorant person or not?!)

Comcast owns NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, and E! news channels, Universal Pictures, and Xfinity telecommunication. They are arguably a larger giant than Disney.

Ahh. I am familiar with Universal Pictures and I've heard of NBC and MSNBC but I don't know much about them outside of their name. So it makes sense that I wouldn't be aware of the giant behind it all!
