Only if they have the same people working on them or force them to fit into an Avengers-type narrative. If they have the right people on each project, the creative success won't be any different whether any given project is the only Marvel film in a twenty-year period or one of twenty films in a given year. The financial success is another question. As is budget and allotted development time. But, with the number of films in the oven (which people call a weakness for DC but I see as a potential strength) and the willingness to push back Gambit indefinitely... I'm optimistic that they'll want a spinoff project like this to look good before pushing it out.
lol. Thanks, though there's a ton in comics I don't know. I'm just very into certain things, particularly Marvel, particularly Spider-Man.
I think we’ll get those...but this is Fox so we can’t be sure. I’m hoping these are only their uniforms for the rescue mission in space (if the people in the orange suits are astronauts).
I've been waiting for one of these films to actually lean into these characters' distinctive comic book aesthetics. But, I wasn't actually that into how the team looked at the end of Apocalypse. They ranged from pretty decent to awful for me. Using the New X-Men costumes is funny when you consider Morrison's suggestion for them was inspired by the first X-Men movie. But, I do love how they look.
I would not be surprised if New Mutants ends up on Netflix or something. I think Dark Phoenix will be a failure either way. This might be a better position, but, internationally, I think this was a bad move.
Dark Phoenix will still be released in cinemas but the Disney/Fox deal will be done by August 2019 and that’s bad news for New Mutants unless Marvel Studios plans on bringing it into the MCU.
Still released in cinemas on the second week of The Lego Movie Sequel. At Fox, everything is not awesome.
I'm sure Disney is annoyed that we've got different Skrulls coming in unrelated movies within a 3-week time period. haha
Apparently there was a screening of Dark Phoenix recently and the source said it was BAD. Which of course is just one persons opinion, but I wouldn’t be surprised it was true based on this.
They need to just blow it all up and start again in a few years with a totally new cast. This series is still stuck in the black hole of early 2000s superhero movies.
Marvel Studios will reboot it. Don’t worry. It’s a shame that with such a phenomenal cast that greatness couldn’t come out of it. DOFP was the closest they got.
I want to see these movies, but nobody's gonna care about Dark Phoenix since it'll be even farther removed from Apocalypse (2016), which was trashed.
DOFP was great on first watch. It’s had diminishing returns for me since. I still really love First Class though.
I really like First Class when it focused on the team but the scenes with just Sebastian Shaw and the Hellfire Club seemed a little cheesy.
I will concede to that haha. I guess my love for it stems from my surprise if it being so good with (to me, personally) some no-name X-Men characters. Plus the 1960s setting is awesome.
Yes, I usually love anything set in the swingin' 60s. The last 20 minutes of First Class and Erik's Nazi hunt are two of the best things (next to Erik's DOFP speech) in the franchise, IMO.
First Class, DOFP and Logan are all great movies. Looking forward to seeing New Mutants since they seemed to be doing something different.
