Oh cool, thanks for all the info! That is interesting. That last part is probably why I never knew he had an history with Gambit lol. All of that makes sense since this will probably be an origin story, or at least have origin flash backs. Since they set up a post credit scene teasing Sinister, they have to be all in on this right?
The teaser trailer for The New Mutants will be released at 12AM PST. I wouldn’t be surprised if Fox puts this trailer in front of horror movies. NEW MUTANTS Director Josh Boone Has Officially Announced That The First Teaser Will Be With Us Tomorrow
Cool. Though, that makes it like a week after Silver & Black, assuming that one is still going according to Sony's plan. Both Silver & Black and Gambit are weird spinoffs that I'm more excited for than seemingly anyone else, so I'd hate to seem them compete. Since we know so little about S&B thus far, plus Venom's tight schedule, hopefully Sony pushes that project back. Hopefully this Gambit director and shooting schedule actually hold up.
The main thing that excites me about Gambit is how passionate Channing seems to be about the character. Its reminds me of how Reynolds felt about Deadpool.
I love that Fox is venturing into different genres for their films. Even if they don't all end up being good, it's interesting and fresh to me.
So we have a horror film (New Mutants), a comedy (Deadpool 2), a superhero drama (Dark Phoenix), and a crime/heist film (Gambit). That’s a good variety.
Not digging that New Mutants trailer at all. Horror is just never my thing. The best of horror I enjoy, but the majority I find eye rolling silly most of the time. They could pull it off, but I’m not really excited for it at this point.
I had no interest in New Mutants before but I'm so excited now, damn that's a cool trailer. Excited to see Charlie Heaton from stranger things, too. Love the creepy children voices singing pink floyd at the end there.
Now the only mystery is when/how this will tie into Deadpool or the larger X-Men world. LOGAN Director James Mangold Says A Spin-Off Film For Dafne Keen's X-23 Is In The Scripting Stages
I think it's both funny and sad that every comic book film centered on a female character is now gonna be seen through the lens of Wonder Woman, even if helmed by a man, but hey, better than being seen through the lens of Catwoman. I love Laura Kinney, so if this actually materializes and works on its own terms instead of trying to tie into other films, I'm totally down. Wonder what approach they'd take that'd build off the tone of Logan, use elements of the comics, and separate itself from The Gifted and New Mutants.
If its a Logan spin off, does it have to tie in at all? Can't it just be about her and her new group of mutant friends she ran off with? I would love to see her and the other kids explored more.
It isn’t strange it could, but with X-Force being made I think Fox is going to try to unite other characters.
I don't know if this reassuring for any of you. X-23 Creator Craig Kyle Will Work With James Mangold On The Script For The Planned LOGAN Spin-Off
A team up of a comic book writer, director of two good x films and film company who is taking chances on non cookie cutter comic book movies? I'll take it.
Logan was great, The Wolverine could've been good instead of a hot mess had Mangold gotten his way, and Craig Kyle did a good job with X-23 in both animation and comics. So, in terms of both getting the character right and making a good final product, I feel really good about this. I'm just tired of media centered on a woman not having any women behind the scenes. If Mangold directs, he should at least recruit a woman to refine the script or something. (And then make sure she actually gets credited, unlike Stephany Folsom, who got screwed over for Thor: Ragnarok by WGA rules.)
