Interviewer: "Is there any chance at all that someday before the world ends there could be a movie that'd have Wolverine in it played by someone who isn't Hugh Jackman?" Fox CEO: "Um, yeah, sure. I mean, he's a popular character. We don't have any plans right now, but..." Headline: "FOX IS GOING TO RECAST WOLVERINE!!!"
If Wolverine is recasted within 5 years, i’m sure it won’t get in the way of Dafne Keen’s X-23. Honestly, I think it’s more likely that Fox would let Wolverine go to the MCU (like Spider-Man) before casting him only to put the character in more X-Men films.
I am glad that it was supposed/is going to have references to Apocalypse and DOFP so that it will at least be clear which timeline this is in.
Why can't she just be in X-Force instead of this? And why is Fox constantly trying to run before they can walk in their main X-Men film series? At least everything outside of X-Men that Fox is doing with their mutants looks mostly good.
I am down to have the Dark Phoenix saga not get smashed into one film, but I want to see how well part 1 is before I get hyped for two of them. Hopefully part 1 fleshes Jean out and actually causes me to root for her and Cyclops. This also makes sense due to Kinberg saying Dark Phoenix (if that will still be the title) will not be very intergalactic. Part 2 would be when the space adventure kicks in.
Fox's X films are way more hit than miss, so I'm excited. Wolverine Origins and X3 were back to back so that is where the where they got a bad wrap, but since then have been hitting them out of the park mostly.
Since Wolverine Origins: Great: First Class, DOFP, Logan, Deadpool Good: The Wolverine and Apocalypse. Nothing I would consider straight up bad.
Apocalypse was straight up bad. Some good moments sprinkled throughout, but overall, it was just a really bad film. Jumping from that hot mess straight into a 2-part film directed by a first-time director who cowrote that mess and also cowrote both Last Stand and Fant4stic? That's an absolutely terrible decision.
If Apocalypse was released before DOFP then I wouldn’t have thought it was as bad. I went into the film hoping for something as good as DOFP. I wouldn’t say Apocalypse is Iron Man 2 or Thor 2 bad, but it is a mess that set me back and caused me to not feel confident about future X-Men films.
I hate to admit it but Apocalypse is probably the one XMen movie I can watch repeatedly. DOFP was fun with a big wink to the audience in reference to righting their on ship but as a stand alone movie? I dunno. First Class is easily my favorite but I could probably throw on Apocalypse at any time. It’s not what I would say is a great film but I think it has some really great sequences that make it an enjoyable watch.
There's great stuff in Apocalypse, but not enough for me to want to watch all 2 1/2 hours of that movie again anytime soon.
That..........could be cool. Mr. Sinister doesn't really have a history with Gambit though does he? Seems like a weird choice for a villain, but I don't really know who Gambit's villains are....
Mister Sinister is actually a major player in Gambit's backstory: Later during his teen years, Remy was first hired by Mister Sinister, then in disguise of Dr. Nathaniel Essex. Essex wanted his stolen diaries back from the Weapon X program. Remy and the Thieves' Guild accepted the mission and sent out Remy to retrieve said diaries. Standing in the cold, scouting the Weapon X facility, Remy couldn't bear the cold and swore he would steal a long, stylish jacket in New Orleans after the mission, which he did. Upon entering the facility, Remy witnessed Wolverineescaping from his adamantium procedure and found the diaries. However, deeming them to be too dangerous for Essex to have them, as Remy didn't fully trust him, Remy burned the diaries. He headed back home, only to find a disappointed Thieves' Guild and Essex.[16] ... After his exile from New Orleans, he wandered the world and became a master professional thief, making many contacts (and quite a few enemies). During this period, Gambit found he had an uncontrollable amount of energy flowing through him, to the point that he could not withstand it. Desperate, Gambit went to Mister Sinister for help. Sinister modified Gambit's power by removing a portion of Gambit's brain stem, making him significantly less powerful, but able to control the still considerably large amount of power in him.[18] Years later, a much-younger version of Mister Sinister surgically returned it, upon Gambit's request, when Gambit time-traveled to the 19th century.[19] However, Sinister wanted the favor returned, so Gambit carried out various missions for him. For the last of these operations, Gambit gathered together a group of mercenaries which Sinister named the Marauders. Gambit was then ordered to lead the Marauders into the tunnels under New York City. He led Sabretooth, Blockbuster, Prism, and Riptidethere while — unknown to Gambit — Scalphunter, Arclight, Harpoon, Malice, Scrambler, and Vertigo followed the Morlock Tommy into the tunnels. Their goal was to wipe out the Morlocks. Gambit was unable to prevent the Marauders from killing a considerable number of Morlocks, but he was able to save a single child named Sarah, who would grow up to be Marrow, the leader of the mutant terrorist group Gene Nation. Gambit long kept his involvement in the mission a secret from his fellow X-Men, much to their eventual displeasure.[20]
