i cannot picture any other album pulling ahead of this for my AOTY, though a few are pretty close. Easily my most ancitipated of the year as well.

I’ve been saying it to my girlfriend for 3 months but now that I’ve heard it, this and the 1975 record are gonna be in a duel to the death for my AOTY

I don’t think I even need to tell y’all how I’m feeling about the 1975 record lol. It’s no contest for me.

Yeah I don't pick an AOTY. Usually I just pick my top 20 in no order.

I’m not sure if this is an honest question or if you’re just taking the piss, but I’ll answer it as if it’s sincere regardless haha. I still adore the Cheem record and think it’s the wildest, most inventive take on guitar-based music I’ve heard a band make in a long time. The breadth of influences they draw from on that record still amazes me. That said, The 1975 is my favorite band for a reason— they’re honest to god masters of their craft in my eyes— and this record is arguably their best yet. If I’m being honest, nothing really had a fighting chance at beating it for me, including CheemTV, as much as I love it.

Listened to The 1975 album this morning and wasn't blown away. It's not terrible by any means but I definitely don't get the hype. More power to you if you're into it!

For anyone interested, I recorded an instrumental cover of "Slapstick" -

If you’ve never heard of them you should check this out. Not music I would generally listen to, but live and in these videos are quite a spectacle

The lead singer has also recorded under MOSSY and that stuff is really quite good.

I don’t have an album of the year list because I don’t get to listen to a lot of full albums

I still make a mixtape of best songs at the end of each year though, “Slapstick” will be on it

So will Cool by Soccer Mommy, Northern Orthodox by Republic of Wolves, Everything to Everyone by Bahamas, and that Body On My song that’s been in my head for 6 months

What an amazing album! I didn't the band before this, but I'm glad I do now. Everytime I listen to it, I get carried away right from the start. No surprise that this is my number 1 from 2018.

I don't really do a "song of the year" but Heartbeats might just be my "song of the year".
