I think nearer my God just had an angsty anthemic feel that I enjoy. I need to give their other stuff more chances but then I compare it to this record and I just wanna listen to this record lol. I'm a sucker for like a good build up to an excellent and rewarding climax (see: GOAT at this premise Jimmy Eat World) which I get with nearer my God. From my recollection of their other stuff I felt like there wasn't as much of an obvious payoff and it was more low-key but that could be my limited rotation of it idek honestly. Just hasn't clicked as readily tho I thought it was fine.
Idk dealer is one of my favorite albums of all time and came out exactly three years ago when I began the long hard struggle that I’m currently dealing with in my life
This is me. I don’t hate this but I don’t think it’s as incredible as everyone else. It’s just an ok album to me.
This is hella random but the main little diddy on Trapped In Dillard’s reminds me a lot of something that would be on this puzzle game I used to play for the 360 called Ilomilo. It’s just super cute and wonky.
The kind of lost me with Dealer (not a bad record, just not really what I was looking for in the band), so I was pleasantly surprised when I heard this and loved it immediately.
I haven't listened to this full thing, still, but I've listened to the title track like three times today. I think thats gotta be my favorite foxing song. I really ought to find time to listen to this
Throwing this on right now, for the first time in a month or two (I guess since Palms?). SHOCK COLLARED AT THE GATES OF HEAVEN! Gets me every time.
idk dealer is one of my favorites of the decade so i wouldn't say it's easy for me to put an album that hasn't even been out 3 months above it.
This is a real interesting album, I thought I didn’t like this band because they were some kind of murky atonal post-hardcore, but this reminds me a lot of Everything Everything or Bombay Bicycle Club
yeah Dealer is a bit more low key by comparison but thats just what its supposed to be, not to a fault its sorta post rocky tho so it has alot of the build up/climax kind of parts but maybe its different than what you meant its also a really great album imo
Yeah I need to give it another go. Was going to this morning actually but then I decided to get up thirty minutes before work started so that's my questionable life choices
Listening to this album and then going back is so wild because I remember when Night Channels came out and it felt like the hugest, most incredible achievement and it PALES in comparison to anything on here.
I think night channels, Eiffel, and glass coughs have a case for best foxing song, but there are no less than like 6 candidates on NMG... Also really don’t care at all for albatross outside of the medic.
