Thank fuck Chris Walla pushed them on the title track because what a monumental song How was the crowd?
There were a lot of people there but looking around everyone didn't even seem like they were into it or knew the songs so I was confused lol
Still a lot of shows not sold out though, and the NYC venue is small-ish, and they've played it before. Since this site loves the band so much it's a real disconnect for me between how popular they are here with how still relatively unknown they are to the general public; at least compared to other bigger bands in the "scene" The tour also has relatively weak / unknown support.
If I weren’t already driving 3-4 hours away from home back to back weekends this month, I’d have driven the 3-4 hours to see them play in Orlando next weekend. Before this album, that would not have been the case.
Idk when I saw them on the Circa tour they had a huge draw, and a lot of people were super into them.
Idr what the album sales numbers were but I remember seeing them and thinking “huh. The chorus thread is actually like a not-insignificant chunk of the fan base lol.” That’s obviously hyperbolic but it’s always pretty wild to see the numbers after so much buildup.
Ah yes the “absolutepunk” hype Like when you go to a Hotelier show and there’s 50-100 people there lol
Maybe "weak" is the wrong word, because I think the openers are fine, but they definitely aren't big names who will draw many people on their own outside of their native cities.
do NOT sleep on Ratboys or Kississippi for heck's sake! the kissi record is one of my favorites of this year and the ratboys record is one of my favorites of last year
