Viva la Vida and the Prospeckt's March EP that goes with it are also so, so good. just bold, colourful, vibrant albums that pull off almost all the styles they take a swing at, they're great listens. ....no idea what happened after that
Oh HELLLLLL NO. Granted, they do have some good songs from the early 2000s (Shiver and The Scientist in particular), but everything else from them is the DEFINITION of cloying, overly sentimental bullshit. I absolutely despise their lyrics, and the music itself is far too limp to create a mood of anything other than pure cheese. And nothing gets me angrier in music than listening to cliched nonsense. I will never pass up the opportunity to shit on Coldplay. The first few songs on Parachutes are great, then their career nosedived into being one of the most awful bands I’ve ever heard. also Chris Martin has a really punchable face lol
I've never been a big fan. I've also never actively listened to them, but I can't imagine it's offensive enough in lack of quality or mediocrity to make me angry. That sounds like a personal issue.
I don’t know if everyone else has realized it yet but Five Cups is actually a portal to an alternate reality. It’s pretty sweet
Trapped is really cool. Someone mentioned Bon Iver, and I like that comparison. Conor does a great job on it.
I don’t hear many of these comparisons honestly, like maybe a few moments here and there, but not overall. They’ve done a great job of making a diverse sounding album that’s still really cohesive and unique to them. Wouldn’t shock me in a few years people listening to new rock releases and saying “oh this sounds like Foxing.”
Tbh I don’t hear the Coldplay/U2 comparisons people keep mentioning. Though the BI comparison I hear a lot of. Esp on Slapstick, and Trapped.
I'm way past the point of being worn out on Coldplay. Not even sure which of their last releases I listened to as it's been years since I've put them on. However, I'll always defend Parachutes as being close to perfect.
Nearer My God blows Science Fiction out of the water... NMG is more their "Devil and God" if we really had to compare. Still a young band full of passion, inspiration, and creativity.
In Nearer My Pod episode 4, Foxing's Conor Murphy and Eric Hudson have a deeper discussion about the making of "Nearer My God." Chris Walla, producer, also joins the program.
my Gf described this as an ‘unexpected halfway point between blood brothers and one republic’ and it’s way more accurate than I figured it would be. can’t get enough of this fucking thing. - The last minute of grand paradise takes my heart places it has always wanted to be - the fucking shred section in lich prince lol gtfo out of here, so stellar. That syncopated drum part right before the phrase repeats just owns - the vocal melody in the verses of won’t drown is one of the best I’ve heard maybe ever
