I've finally given this a few listens. Bastardizer was my favourite early. It surprised me to see so many people like Grand Paradise best. It's good I just thought the next two tracks were better. And I never would have guessed 5 Cups went for that long just listening to the whole album.
So I can officially say that I do really love this record other than Crown Candy, which I actually find to be quite bad.
I like Crown Candy but boy is it awkward to sing, " I wasted my life on you" whith your SO in the car with you haha.
I love Bastardizer so much, and it feels so single ready, almost radio-ready, I'm surprised they haven't put more focus on it.
what is the stringed instrument used during the chorus of Trapped In Dillard's? I don't know how to properly describe it.
maybe i wasn't in the right mood for it, but i couldn't get through more that 4 songs. i was boooored... i'll have to give it another try when i'm in more of a mellow/sad/lazy mood or something.
my band opened for them once, but other than seeing them in that live setting, i've never listened to them so i wouldn't really be able to speak on if their other songs are less energetic. but yeah, i actually thought "Grand Paradise" was a pretty cool song. i think when i was listening to it yesterday for the first time, i was looking for something more energetic. i ended up putting on Vein instead so maybe that is a better explanation for what i was saying in my original post, haha.
yeeeeah i wasn't really into it in that moment. shrug. all week i was looking forward to listening to it on my drive to band practice yesterday, but when it finally came time to do it, i wasn't in the mood to listen to it. so i still haven't given it a fair chance (or a full listen) yet
at least you turned it off four songs in so we don’t have to hear what would almost definitely be a bad take on five cups
First off, I'm loving this record after the first week and am excited to keep listening. I haven't really gotten the chance to sit down and really focus on it 100% but hopefully I can sit down with the lyrics tonight and really digest those. My early favotires besides the singles are probably Grand Paradise, Bastardizer, & Lich Prince. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the others, those are just the major standouts for me currently. Secondly, I played this for my girlfriend and she thinks Bastardizer sounds like a Dave Matthews song so theres that comparison for you
