Only got into these guys earlier this year when dealer finally clicked for me. I’ve only had a few proper listens but damn this album pushes these guys near my upper echelon of bands for sure.
I’m surprised how much I like this. Foxing has bored me in the past aside from a few songs on their first record but I really enjoyed my first listen. Lich Prince, Five Cups, and Grand Paradise are my favorites so far.
the strings in Heartbeats definitely trigger some kind of nostalgia, idk if it's just old movies or what but it feels good.
This album is so damn fantastic and I love the musical creativity they took here. Different songs keep reminding me of other artists. Grand Paradise - It has such a Brand New Daisy feel to it to me. Trapped in Dillards - This sounds like a lovechild of Justin Vernon and Why? to me and I love it. Bastardizer - I can't help but think of The Wonder Years, especially after the kick. Am I crazy? Probably. All I know is I made a 300 song playlist for my roadtrip and this album has kicked it to the curb haha.
My vinyl just showed up. They sent me the wrong variant which sucks, but i got a fewer pressed one so it’s whatever.
Got bone white, was supposed to get that splatter one. My dealer is bone white too, so I’m totally cool with this haha
I’m sure it’s been mentioned in here but some of these songs remind me a lot of early Portugal. The Man
Hearing a lot of vocal inflection that sounds so much like Dan* from as tall as lions. And i like that. A lot
Looking forward to having the climax to Grand Paradise on repeat for the next month or so, what a moment to start an album with
Man, "Five Cups", gives off both that melancholy and uplifting feeling at the same time, absolutely adore it.
On my third spin now, and just got chills from Bastardizer. If this isn't my AOTY, then I don't know anymore.
Listening to this made me go back and listen to You Can't Take It With You again. Such a great album.
I checked this band/album out bc I remember Jason mentioning them. I was pretty blown away by this album. Its my first time ever listening to them.
Fun fact: You Can’t Take It With You was the subject of my free choice topic back in Speech class. Love the heck outta that album and Duermete does things to me.
I figured out the chords a while back but Ricky is too good so I can't do the tapping part in the bridge
As tall as lions is the best band that never made it big. That album and th EP before it are just stupid good
