last post here before I collapse of exhaustion - 7:10 of Five Cups has "find a reason not to leave", probable callback to Redwoods. very cool/moving detail
Wow, I just finished my 3rd listen. I have to say I am so impressed with the growth, intelligence and versatility this album shows. Sonically the album shifts in so many diverse ways but never feels fractured or scattered as it still maintains its cohesiveness. They took a lot of risks on this album and I think they really came through on the other end on top. Going to listen to this through out the day and investigate it further, but this was my initial reaction. Fuck yea Foxing, great addition to an impressive catalog of your already existing discography!!! The hype is real.....
This shit is crazy. Just got to Heartbeat and it might be my favorite so far. I think I’ve said that after every song tho.
I noticed that as well, I almost put it in my review but didn’t want to sound dumb if I was wrong ha.
Just filed an 800+-word review of this. This was a pleasure to write about, can't wait for it to go live.
I’m having a real tough time not listening to Grand Paradise on repeat. Think I’ll try and take a break and listen to the new BRM songs
I feel extremely pathetic for not being able to get the end of Grand Paradise out of my head while I listen to these songs, but oh well. Back to Foxing
This album is interesting. I don't love it, but I don't dislike it overall. It's not where I expected or wanted them to go, but that's fine. I guess I'm judging it on what it's not rather than what it is. There's a few tracks I really like from the first couple of listens and a couple of tracks I really don't like. We'll see how it sits over the coming weeks.
After my first listen, the only song I wasn't huge on was "Crown Candy", but everything else was great. "Gameshark" continues to grow on me.
