What I actually came into this thread this morning to say was that people who dig this album and its eclectic approach will fucking love Bartees Strange's debut album that's out tomorrow. Bartees Strange - Live Forever (October 2nd 2020) • forum.chorus.fm
Halfway through rn and I can absolutely co-sign this. I’d say some of the electronic use I’ve heard so far is kinda sonically close to this album. Not a one to one comparison but I get the same kinda vibe
I was under the impression that they just did full demos for the record with Andy Hull and that they still needed to record
They have their own studio in STL that they've been working out of. I think they have been recording, so I just wonder if they haven't gotten to his parts yet.
I signed up for they're patreon, mainly because they do this podcast, talking about how the new record is going to sound. It's getting me so pumped!! They say it's like a more sustained Nearer My God, but also a return to form, like alot of songs about relationships and not in like an angsty sort of way. They also said it has to do with alot of neo paganism imagery. The pop parts are really poppy and the rock parts are really rocky.
i'm excited. NMG has grown into my 2nd favorite album of all time and Grand Paradise often dances around the concept of being my favorite song of all time
