NMG still doesn’t emotionally or musically resonate with me strongly (not really my thing) but my lord this band absolutely destroys live. These songs are made to be played in front of large crowds. The album is objectively impressive NN/Foxing is going to be a party and a half
yeah they are unbelievable live. the "ashing cigarettes on gravestones pin photographs on cork boards" bit of the title track when Conor jumped into the crowd is one of the most powerful things I've seen in my life
I think I'm coming up for the Pitts show! They're playing CLE the day before same night as La Dispute so I think this is my alternative
Damn they were mind blowing last night. We got Won't Drown and Lambert, both of which were *chef's kiss*.
Won’t Drown and Lambert yaaaaasssss Also idk if she’s been with them all tour (tbf it’s only been a couple dates) but Caeleigh from Saintseneca was in the live band and I thought that was cooooool
How is Foxing so outrageously good? Show was phenomenal tonight. Hearing all those songs from NMG cemented it as a classic in my book.
Last week was my first time seeing them live, and I was really impressed with how good they sound. I also found myself loving NMG even more after seeing so much of it in a live setting.
Um so I listened to The Albatross for the first time today and why did no one tell me this was just as good as the other two?
Maybe it’s just because it’s new for me but I would only think of this as a slight step down, if anything. Inuit and Rory particularly blew me away.
There are some great songs on the album. Rory always has and probably always will be a staple in their live set. I just think Dealer is a pretty huge leap above The Albatross and then NMG is a pretty big leap above Dealer. Just speaks to how incredible this band is.
Conor may rival Andy Hull in that both their voices somehow sound as good if not better than recorded. I can’t think of many others like that. But the whole band was just ON. I liked them before, but the NMG era has made them iconic as far as I’m concerned.
