listening to this for the first time rn and secret history made me drop my coffee on the carpet. fucking jaw dropping song. makes grand paradise and 737 look like ambient music
folks, im on hell 99 and im having the time of my life. im laughing like a maniac. if you didnt like draw down the moon, this will get you back on board i guarantee it
Around the release of DDTM, I remember Conor saying something about how Five Cups was denial and anger and Speak With The Dead was grief and acceptance and one day they would do bargaining. You think Greyhound is it?
It’s fucking stupid to act like we can’t compare bands to one of the most influential bands on this scene it is not a judgement call on Jesse as a person to make a comparison and if you think it is you may as well block me because I’m gonna make the comparisons I hear and defend them because I know they’re valid
because it’s so close i’m going to hold off and wait for the full album. I listened to the single once and really enjoyed it. NMG hit me in a way as an adult similarly to the records from being a teen did. The last record was really good but didn’t have nearly the emotional impact. I have tempered but high expectations for this one. very excited it’s only a few weeks out.
How is it any more shallow than any other comparison? Sorry, but I’m not really understanding the argument here.
Because I dont think they sound the same, haha. Not any more complicated than that. They are in the same genre, but thats about it.
I don't want to prolong this but also I can't recall a Brand New song with that log of a noise interlude or the electronic vocal sampler part that follows
I was unaware you could only make comparisons if two songs have the same exact elements the entire way through note for note, my bad, I guess the chord progression, the guitar tone, the vocal style, and the general vibe don’t count I’ll make sure to think twice before drawing a comparison that makes sense to my ears thanks guys
Okay and I do think they sound the same why was I attacked for having an opinion? It’s extremely obvious to my ears
I think it's fine to compare bands to Brand New, they were v influential and released a string of great albums. That being said I don't really think these particular bands are all that similar musically, lyrically, production or arrangement-wise.
I don't hear the brand new similarities. The song itself is fine. And draw down the moon is by far my favorite release of theirs (sounds like this one will lean more into past efforts). I feel alone and scared.
