I saw Thursday there a few times. Last time on the No Dev tour. Saw their Thrice/Coheed tour there in 03 and it was the first time I had been there and haven't liked it since then... Mississippi Nights was always my favorite venue in STL.
My buddy and I are going to both shows in St Louis. Will be cool to see them at the smaller venue the first night and then bigger then second. Fucking stoked. Also I hope this goes so well for them they change their minds lol
I hope it goes well but for three albums now these guys have been on the verge of breaking up and a shining example of 'I adore this band but they need a fucking break before they ruin themselves' so I think stepping back will do them good, whether they want to call it a hiatus or not.
It's kinda crazy to look at their Spotify, because despite feeling that they have been on the verge for the last three albums, The Albatross is by far their most streamed album, so I'm not sure if blowing up in our scene translated as much as we may expect
One of my first thoughts after listening to Self-Titled was that I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the end. I’m glad they were able to go out on such a high note if this really is it.
I hope they're feeling the love with the response to these shows! Wish I could go but I'm still broke from my impulsive my chemical romance trip lol.
I'm so glad I got to see them twice, couldn't make the UK shows work this year because I was Going the Fuck Through It but NMG tour and Albatross show in 2024 were incredible.
I always hold the Moving Mountains/O’B/La Dispute/Thrice show as my favorite tour but now with the passing years it actually might be the Foxing/Circa tour. For obvious reasons I don’t think I’ll see two bands at their absolute peak live again from our scene.
I think "Greyhound" might be their best song. The way that one changes and warps different sounds into noise and back into melody is really special.
while Greyhound/Gratitude/Frozen Heads are probably stronger songs overall, Barking is my favorite off the record. I think about the cicada shell line all the time.
Looks Like Nothing and Gratitude are my favorite foxing songs and are really the thesis of the self titled imo. The record has not lessened in my mind at all, it's their opus. What a weird band that always zagged. So many weirdo deep cuts on every record that don't all work for me, but man this band took big swings.
you’re absolutely right. that section in the middle, with the two back to back, feels like a culmination of everything the record stood for up until that point (and their entire careers honestly). it’s a phenomenal pair and def the centerpiece, both metaphorically and in terms of the actual tracklisting placement
This album is monumental. Not only as a possible swan song for one of the best from the scene, but as a snapshot of our current climate being a millennial. They absolutely went out on top. Give me snapping of the brain
im ngl i wish i liked this one more. the highlights are undeniable but it doesnt really come together front to back for me unfortunately. its best 5 songs or so are totally nmg level though
This one is far and away my favorite Foxing album and one of my favorite albums of all time. Just an insane record front to back.
