It was posted on their patreon where they said they'd be sharing it on their socials tomorrow morning.
As a patreon subscriber I take offense with being notified first thus getting slightly less ignorance is bliss smh!!
Not terribly surprised and frankly was wondering if something like this was coming when I saw them last winter here in St. Louis, just based off some of the things they said obviously will be at the last hometown show and hope to see some of yall there
I have such fond memories discovering this band. Found them on their tour with BN, started listening to Albatross non stop. Like one of those memories where if I play a song from albatross, I can smell the car I was driving at the time. Followed every record release from there. It was so much fun watching them transform with each release.
one of the bands that kept me going. was really hoping to see them live one last time as i didn’t get to see them this time around. their legacy will be felt by many. NMG is one of my favorite records of all time, with the s/t constantly contesting to join the ranks over time, and i wish the group nothing but joy and prosperity in their individual lives
Are they doing the cruise in November? saw them with coheed last week and of course they were amazing. Left after 4 TBS songs because boy they still suck live. But their headliner last year or earlier this year was an amazing show. So happy I at least got to them see a couple times recently. But damn this sucks.
Damn. I've been listening to their self-titled so much recently. Never got to see them live, what a bummer.
Extremely sad. One of my favorite bands, probably have seen them maybe 10 times now. But glad they’re doing what they need to. might try to make the 8 hour drive to St Louis.
Devastated. As long as it's a hiatus I guess. I was never able to give the S/T the time it deserved even though I loved it, just put me in a really uncomfortable headspace to listen to. Gonna miss these guys.
Remember when they posted this and everyone was afraid they were done and then they went on a huge tour with The Hotelier and released Foxing less than 2 years later? I definitely believe them, and this one certainly seems more final/official. But I have hope it will indeed just be a hiatus, and they’ll take the time they need to come back inspired and ready to continue being one of the best bands making music.
nearer my god is for my money the best album that came out during my high school years and has only aged better and better. truly one of my favorite albums ever rest of the discog is loaded with gems too. will miss these guys but im glad i at least got to see hall of frozen heads last year, sent me right to heaven
I always went out to my way to see these dudes because they seemed like a band that could be done at any minute. I remember reading an interview with Connor around the nearer my god release just about how stressful it was trying to make a decent living touring and making music, and if I’m not mistaken, it was part of why Ricky left the band around that time. If they don’t come back with new music I hope they at least do something for 10 years of nearer my god.
sad to see these guys go but as a musician who is currently deeply struggling with sense of self and interpersonal relationships outside of their band, I feel super seen by this statement. Glad they spelled it out how they did ànd Hope they find what they need from the time away/apart. Great band!
bummer, but glad theyre going out (for now) on their own. im sure they'll be back at some point, and in the mean time we have the rankings to get us by.
