It was in the stereogum piece posted several pages back also where it says they have their own studio in a former church over on the Illinois side, which makes any complaints about “sElF rEcOrDeD” or whatever even dumber
Getting Fridmann vibes from the way some of this sounds which is a pretty big compliment coming from an ACBTLD diehard like me
It’s in collinsville which I used to spend a LOT of time in for…reasons I actually might have an idea of where the old church is lol but I’m not weird enough to go look
Has anybody actually complained about it being self recorded or are we still alluding to my comment in the ddtm thread about sometimes being skeptical when I hear that something is being self recorded? Which, yeah, maybe that’s an ignorant thing to say but, uh, I haven’t revisited that at all since literally Greyhound released because obviously I was wrong to express any doubt.
Im not weird enough to go look either haha but I work on the Illinois side now and often just drive around randomly for my lunch break. So I’ll keep eyes out lol
Apparently someone said something dumb in here then subsequently deleted it. Don’t think we’re talking about you
First listen and I honestly loved this. Made me go back to Draw Down which I never really got into. First re-listen and absolutely in love with that. Not sure why it was a miss for me then.
That record shop on that little strip is pretty dope one time I saw circas appendage EP by itself there one time usually you only see it in the BSN Deluxe repress but of course it was like 70 bucks. Haven’t been out there in ages since I got clean and my buddy who lived there went to prison
Someone the other day said they could tell it was self-recorded within the first 5 seconds of hearing the first single and some weird shit about sounding like comic sans and then deleted it when everyone was like wtf are you talking about.
Oh, hahaha. I think I’ve been feeling sensitive lately - I was like “people are really that upset by my comment from like July?”
Only a few songs in, but I wholeheartedly agree with the notion that this captures their live energy insanely well.
I feel like Nearer My God is their best and balanced their sound so well...Draw Down to me leaned into their most poppy sound whereas this to me seems it leans toward their more hardcore sound...can't seem to get into either one really at this point but will give it a few more listens
I would say that's accurate, though DDTM and Dealer are probably interchangeable depending on the day and my mood
This and nearer my god I think are really the only ones that I like pretty much all the way through. Good stuff on all the others though, just don’t stand up as full statements
