Blown away by this on first listen. By far the hardest album they’ve released. Hope it’s not their last.
I'm halfway through it and it's immediately one of the best albums I have heard this year and probably the best rock album I have heard in even longer
my favorites on this after a couple weeks are Barking, Gratitude, Hall of Frozen Heads, and Cleaning. It is an incredibly rich album that keeps unfolding on me. I love it a lot
I know the Brand New comparisons are tired at this point but I feel like this is what they would’ve sounded like if they followed up Daisy with the same direction instead of laying off the gas pedal. Now roast away at my bad take.
First listen as more of an NMG fan than a Foxing fan to this point in their career... A clear recovery from DTTM. But ironically, I'm drawn to the hookier and more melodic songs on this one, even though the poppier vibe of DTTM is mainly why it never clicked with me. Barking, Gratitude, and Hall of Frozen Heads in particular. I feel like those tracks successfully fuse melodic hooks with a layered, rich atmosphere, whereas DTTM often got too dancy and straightforward. Stuff like Spit, Kentucky McDonalds, and Dead Internet is impressive but they were hard for me to sink my teeth into. I can see some of these crazier and more schizophrenic tracks clicking after more listens, tho. FWIW, I think NMG will still remain tops for me, and the most NMG-esque track here (Greyhound) is prob still my favorite.
no, it's a good take, and it's absolutely OK to say because so many of us have wanted something to fill the BN void and this band absolutely can do that
This feels like, to me, if the armed wanted to be tv on the radio instead of queens of the Stone Age on the last album
Looks like nothing just sent me to a different universe and then gratitude dropped a nuke on said universe. Both might be two of their best songs. Goddamn.
