Nearer My God is top tier and way better than the other two imo I like Albatross and Dealer but don't love them
Second listen and this song is fucking insane. Hope its not the only song of this length on the album. I'm not familiar with Yoni, but I can't pick out any other voices other than Conor's. Where is he featured?
Dealer is a must listen for me the first time it gets really cold in October/November. It's just perfect for that day.
This. I got into them with NMG and it sounds almost nothing like their prior work, which I skimmed briefly but much of it just sounded generic low-key indie to me (no pitchforks, I know that's oversimplified but in a relative sense it feels accurate). The NMG title track would fit in reasonably well on the earlier albums.
has anyone taken a peek at the source code on the speak with the dead page? could be nothing, but they did mention deeper puzzles in each ritual in the initial email...
nearer my god is nothing like the first two albums and I'd guess you'd like it based on some other stuff you like fwiw. go straight to that
Dealer is a phenomenal record but definitely a grower. I go back and forth with whether I like Dealer or NMG (which is the more accessible of their records). Listen to their Audiotree from that era. Those songs are killer live. When Night Channels kicks in live...chef’s kiss. They said they made a conscious effort to make NMG sound more like their live performance than Dealer or The Albatross.
I saw this tour, and it was incredible. I’ve been trying to remember the exact set list since. Thanks for this! I do vividly remember them also having Lich Prince
Now that I think about it, they definitely played Lich Prince on this tour. Show was absolutely bonkers. I drove up to Portland, had major wisdom tooth pain and got no sleep that night. Had to drive back to Manchester for my internship the next morning early, and somehow miraculously made it through the day
Uhhhhhhhhhhh you all weren't kidding, I'm only 4 tracks into Nearer My God and it's nothing like I remember their first two albums being haha. Really enjoying this. It's pretty wild, I essentially had put this band into a category of "not for me" after giving the first two albums a listen and just didn't even think about listening to this one, despite seeing all the hype and love for it. I guess it goes to show, it's always worth at least giving a single a chance from a band that you may think you don't like, just in case.
I know I'm in the foxing thread so I'll not reply to that. but, Heartbeats... what a crazy little track
