Heartbeats to me definitely flashes the indie pop songwriting hand that they played all over this album
I chose to believe that the end of “If I Believed in Love” is a nod to Wolf Parade’s “I’ll Believe in Anything”.
honestly thought the title track of NMG was also an indication of where this record was headed..almost the perfect example of the arena sized synth rock aspirations they had
Oh yeah, 100%. Not really trying to say Heartbeats could be on this record anything, just that it’s stylistically in line. These songs pretty much all beat the hell out of that one though
First off, this album is incredible and I am in love with it. Secondly, had anyone heard about future showings of the concert video? I was out of town for a wedding and only caught the first fifteen minutes and didn't realize I wouldn't be able to view it again.
Yeah NMG is my favorite song of theirs and I doubt that will ever change. Not a slight to this record's songs, just what it means to me
seeing them play it live to end their set was hype. conor came down into the crowd to sing the outro. was so good.
They are going to try and put it out at a later time (audio at least) I don't think they said anything about making the video available.
not sure whether this will taint anything for you, but when I was at school I remember playing drums to Korn’s Got the Life. The drumming in the verse of lightning so reminded me of that with its hi-hat pattern. a lot of years ago, but I just distinctly remember it being a fun track to drum to, for a beginner.
Man, “Got the Life” was such a banger back in the day Surprised pitchfork hasn’t reviewed this yet. They reviewed Stevenson and Kississippi yesterday.
“Shocked collared at the gates of heaven” is one of my most memorable moments listening to a song for the first time.
The album has grown on me massively. On first listen it was probably my least favourite but now can't get the songs out of my head. Is there any way to watch the stream from the weekend or is it all gone?
