really is that good, I'm trying not to get super anal over ranking albums this year but it's easily top 5 for me
Man this new song is insane. I was like yeah, cool, some recent Bon Iver-ish stuff going on here then BAM. Very very mint. Will deffo finally be preordering now.
Do these little superior comments make you feel nice inside? They certainly don't help change anyone's mind, and I'm notoriously willing to be reasoned with.
I refuse to listen to anything else. I’ve listened to what was revealed to be the closer twice, and am trying my hardest to forget everything about it
I totally understand what you’re saying. Everyone is excited to tour again, of course they want to tour with friends and whoever is an easy draw. However, I’d like to ask you to imagine how different shows feel when it’s not an all-(often white)male line up with an all-male crew. For me, it’s not a matter of imagination. When a show opens with a band featuring women, the audience feels different to an audience watching a three-band line up full of men. I’m not treated like a weird little object, I’m no longer a little girl who’s into metal, I’m not the only woman in the audience. It’s honestly terrifying to be at a gig and not see any other women and has led me to leave early on multiple occasions. When a band with POC has a platform - there are four POC in Gang of Youths, for example - it reflects in the audience. Their concert had the most beautifully multicultural audience I’ve ever seen and everyone felt comfortable, for once. No one harassed the Sudanese man, the trans kids, or women. All-white bills stop this magic from happening and prevent smaller artists from developing a new audience when the headliner’s mates are always on the bill.
My original comment stemmed from the fact that I really enjoyed the Nearer My God tour they did with Ratboys and Kississippi, as well as the tour they did with Now, Now and Daddy Issues. Not only were they just great tours and different, they took out two non-completely male bands both times which was great. I was hoping they would do another headliner and take out some great diverse bands this time instead of another (back to back) tour with Manchester Orchestra. Foxing is at the level they can headline semi-large venues so them taking a marginalized band on tour would have been perfect, especially after the year we've had regarding racial issues. I know COVID messed things up for a lot of bands, and I'm sure they will do a headliner sometime in 2022, but that's the context for my original reply which sparked this discussion.
im curious if theyll do another single. i imagine they must, since its still over a month off. very curious which theyll choose
Band account retweeted this, wonder if it’s for the release show or a music video? Can’t tell if that’s the Pageant with the seats in the pit area.
