wonderwall is a pop anthem and better than any song this band or most other bands have ever written thanks
I’ve never been into Heartbeats, Trapped in Dillard’s, or Crown Candy, either. Heartbeats is the best out of an unimpressive bunch. The rest of NMG is phenomenal
NMG the song is super great. That verse in the final part could be the most powerful moment on the entire record (along with the Grand Paradise final choruses).
Gotta agree, NMG didn't make a great first impression on me, it seemed really simple, but it leads to a fantastic bridge and it all makes sense in context, love the song!
The song “Nearer My God” is not only the best thing Foxing has ever done, but it’s one of the best songs of the century. No hyperbole. They are a great band, and imo that song is still head and shoulders above everything else they’ve put out, it’s that good.
title track is the most accessible but that's not a bad thing. like everyone else has said that verse is some of Connors best writing (or whoever is their lyricist these days). its pure catharsis. the entire rest of the album is weird shit. I think that moment of release is necessary and really powerful. sometimes you just wanna shout along to something I also dont think its like a generic song by any means either lol. I dont really think I can name a lot of songs that sound like that
we're going to do NMG in my weekly record discussion club soon and im going to try to make it line up with the new album im so exicted.
maybe the people who don't like the title track just haven't heard all the versions in four or five different languages? idk just spitballing here, maybe that could help
I'd take my lumps happily if you at least directed equal fire at whoever said Five Cups is a low point! Also, I realized the title track sounds very U2 to me... I mean, that's fine, but song of the decade is wild!
Trapped In Dillards, Bastardizer, and Crown Candy don't do a lot for me, but almost everything else is crazy good, including the title track. For an album as varied as NMG it's to be expected that some stuff clicks and some stuff doesn't. I love Gameshark now but was real confused as to how I felt about it when it first came out.
