Foxing announces a new partnership between their label, Grand Paradise, and Hopeless Records.

Today Foxing announces a new partnership between their recently-minted label, Grand Paradise, and esteemed indie Hopeless Records. To celebrate, Foxing has released a new song and video in "Go Down Together," and as only they can, they tackle a massive subject in an extraordinary way.

The St. Louis group takes a bold turn towards Passion Pit/Phoenix/MGMT/'00s indie on the track, as vocalist Conor Murphy muses on being a young adult in debt ("ever since I got going, I've been going for broke"). A nod to “The Trail’s End” by Bonnie Parker, “Go Down Together” is a song about devotion and desperation. It is about financial ruin, hopeless grief, and the resilience of love.

As someone who knows very little about labels and countless other things - what does a "partnership" like this mean? Don't see that language often.

I was gonna ask the same thing.

As for the song, I love it. Can’t wait for the full length!

I would assume they're just going to help with pressing and distributing the album but I could be wrong. I feel like they kinda do the same thing for The Wonder Years.

That's what i'm assuming, kind of like what Interscope does with TDE. Distribution and marketing I assume. But in terms of the masters and owning the music, I think that all stays with Foxing, which us how it always should be. Glad to hear it! A lot of bands breakup because of bad deals with record labels and the stress it ensues.

A conscious coupling, if you will.

It is kind of crazy to me that Hopeless would have a partnership with some bands contrasted with how AJ, from TDS, talks about their time with Hopeless. Either way, happy that Foxing get a bigger reach.

They're different things I believe. Foxing didn't sign a record deal with Hopeless like TDS did. My guess is that this partnership means that Foxing owns their masters for the new record and gets the distribution/promotion from Hopeless. Hopeless probably gets a cut from physical sales and maybe a little from streaming/digital - but Foxing should have more money in their pocket at the end of the day because they won't be paying back Hopeless for as much as a typical record deal would.

Again - all an assumption on my part, but that's how I thiiiiiiink it works.
