Cool fact about the EOTW re-record is they did it with Will Putney, same as this album and Brain Pain. Will Putney engineered the original EOTW.
Okay so I love this album and don’t have the patience right now to read thru 10 pages of the thread to see if anyone has mentioned this - however - put on the “maybe it’s me” on YouTube thru my TV soundbar, and heard a terrible terrible offbeat tom-tom (or maybe a metronome?) sound going through the verses that is just impossible to unhear …. Anyone else hear that?? I had to check Spotify cuz I listened in my car and don’t recall hearing it , but then played it through my phone just now…. Don’t hear it if I hold my phone a few feet away but if I hold the speaker up to my head it’s clear as day. anyone else ???
I really like the closer and am surprised so many people here don’t seem to. Feels like a better version of what they tried to do with the one that closed Brain Pain
That’s too many words for a t-shirt four year strong!! just kidding it’s a nice tee but the song is just okay imo
I completely missed that they re-recorded EOTW. Jarring to hear a different take on those songs after playing the original version until the CD quit working.
i didn't even bother listening to it, they re-reorced it just so it could press it on vinyl since universal motown owns the masters.
Some of these are cool, I especially like Flannel is the Color of My Energy, but it's not something I'd listen to instead of the original. That production elevates the energy of the album.
I honestly don't think this band has ever missed. I love it all. This album is definitely a step up from Brain Pain, but only because the production on Brain Pain (especially the suuuuper triggered drum sounds) is lacking. I wish they could get back to the production they had on EOTW and ISWSOF though. They sounded massive, like Foo Fighters massive on those tracks.
they had that major label record budget on those albums, i don't think they'll ever sound like that again.
They worked with Kurt Ballou on S/T and Will Putney on the last 2 albums, so personally I'm more than ok with their production style as of late.
It's true but it makes me sad. And for others' comments, I don't think any of the albums sound bad, I just think that specific era is when they sounded best.
