Finale was fine, pretty much on par for this season. Really liked Kelly's ending. That and the Titan landing were easily the highlights of the season for me. Probably their least intriguing teaser as well, unless I'm missing some major implication of that ship being brought back.
my immediate thought was that was teasing some kinda of Covid parallel for the 2020's. I don't know if this so much the Soviet Mars-94 ship will be brought back, but more like it's automated system found something important in deep space.
The Avery Stevens plot should have been so much better. There is so much cool potential dramatic meat they could have dived into with her and Alex's generational connection, but we got like 2 quick scenes of dialogue with them where none of that gets brought up, and then a scene where they just silently nod at eachother.
Yeah, if they meet at the midpoint of the season, I think it improves so much. Did you check out the Star City premiere yet?
Also the Lily's footage thing only being used as a plot device to quickly redeem Dev in like 5 seconds, and not exploring the wider implications of that getting released to earth was kinda dumb as well.
Watched like a quarter of it last night before bed. Will finish later. UPDATE I found it a little dull, but still intrigued enough to keep up with it.
Shitty finale for a shitty season. Might post more later but they really fucked up a great show. Do not care about star city.
I did kinda like the Aleida/Irina dynamic stuff. Showing Aleida's daughter now having the relationship with Margo that she used to have, then showing Aleida's new surrogate mentor being Margo's arch-enemy was definitely purposeful.
The main weakspot on the writing of the Titan plot this episode was the dumb argument over who gets to be the one who sacrifices themselves so they can bring the alien microorganisms back. Kind of undercut and trivialized the whole moment by making them all seem like they were just glory seeking.
Season definitely ended on a high note. The last 3 or so episodes were easily the best part, which sucks because in a seasoned n that was overall very meh, the ending hit the mark...they should have gotten to the good stuff muchhhh sooner. For All Mankind's Killer Season 5 Cliffhanger Ending Explained By Showrunner [Exclusive] - SlashFilm Very very interesting.
This series is going to end with them either finding a relatively close inhabitable earth-like planet or making first contact with an intelligent alien civilization 100%. Likely the former given how grounded this show is in hard science.
I highly doubt this will happen but I did have the trailing thought of given how Mars-Centric this show is now, and how the only few major characters on still on earth are ancient that I wonder if in the final season that Goldilocks asteroid or something else will destroy earth and the show ends with the remnants of human civilization continuing on in space.
i just knew she was going to go to danny’s pod or whatnot. Wonder if that’s all that was or if there will be further implications in her storyline.
I think we'll see her next season she's in a Helios spacesuit now so I bet she works in close proximity with the rest of the cast. Her and Alex gotta be important in carrying OG characters legacies, no matter if it's what we expect.
This season was definitely somewhat of a disappointment, at least compared to previous seasons, but Im still excited to see what the Titan discovery brings and how the series will end. Hopefully we don't wait as long, and hopefully the budget doesn't seem scaled back again.
Finally watched Star City. Completely different vibe, it's more of a spy thriller. With that said, it was fantastic and it was cool seeing young Sergei and Irina.
Episode 3 of Star City made me read a refresher of the first two seasons as I totally forgot the soviets were already on the moon when Ed got there. It's all lining up.....
Watching Star City. the Chief Designer and Nikulov's secret plan to explore the solar system behind the Soviet government's back I think is going to tie directly into the teaser for FAMK's final season.
