Yeah the KGB lady plot (which is the plot I care least about) is purely to set up the Star City prequel which that character is going to play a major role. Also don't care much for the Miles plot. I do like the intergenerational stuff and I am invested to see where this OG astronaut grandkids stuff goes. It's gonna be like the ending of Dragonball GT where Goku's great great great grandson fights Vegeta's great great great grandson lol Also intrigued by what the Titan episodes will look like.
As soon as that opening scene started playing, i turned to my wife and commented about how it was probably a back door pilot to star city.
Fine episode but the super dramatic ending with not showing Dev's face for like a full minute was very silly.
I generally like the winks to real history in this show, but President learning what is happening on Mars while reading books to kids in Sarasota FL was so on the nose that it was stupid. Also Alex's Marine buddy that is about to be sent to fight his own people is 100% dying by end of season.
This season feels like it is building to a cool place, but the leadup is pretty boring. When it gets to the Titan stuff, Marines on Mars stuff, the Miles snitching getting uncovered stuff, and probably the Alex stepping up in a leadership capacity stuff it'll hopefully get better. We don't have many episodes left though.
Yeah just bored at this point. Sorry to sound like a broken record but I can’t get invested into any of the storylines.
I agree that I think the build up will be worth it. I wouldn't say it's boring, but it definitively could be a bit more compelling. Also, still curious as to why this season took so long to come out. Doesn't seem like it would need the amount of time it had.
It's funny how much this season dovetails with Mike Duncan's own fictional Mars Revolution series he did last year as a coda to his (otherwise non-fictional) Revolutions series. Futuristic energy source from Mars being embargoed as leverage is the biggest one, also sort of most obvious I guess, still tickles me a bit
Same thing kinda with KSR's Red Mars. Scientists on Mars basically discover the secret to stop human aging, and when they use it as leverage people on Earth revolt.
Still got chills at the end of the episode though. Regardless of how the rest of the season has been, they know how to pull off a sequence like that.
The "this is exactly what Ed Baldwin was complaining about since season 1 come full circle" stuff with the Titan mission was a little on the nose.
I just realized there has only been one single natural outdoor shot that takes place on earth this season.
Quite possibly my least favorite season so far. The ending of the episode was what the shows all about,bi could care less for the teen social life drama we've mainly been experiencing. It sucks because it feels like the show had wasted so much time on that, bar only have 3 episodes left and barely anything has happened.
agreed on all points I am really intrigued by the Danny Stevens daughter plot but they have barely shown that so far. They are so many cool places they can go with that but she isn't even on Mars yet.
Exactly, like it's pretty obvious we're headed towards a mars vs Marines situation but with 3 episode left how will they even cover it? One episode, and then BOOM seasons over and now we're a decade later next season wondering what even happened? Season should have been a lot tighter, I'd have preferred if this was the midway point....say episode 5. I just don't see the payoff for the little bits we should experct to see this season that they've been alluding to, especially Danny Stevens daughter. We should 100% be spending more time with her considering we know who she is, and that'll she'll be important just based on that.
Danny Steven's daughter is gonna kill Alex's girlfriend. Calling it. Out of the YA cast I think only Alex and Avery are making it out of this season. She's gonna upload a bunch of video and turn the tide of public relations on earth right before she dies.
