When it comes to school lunches it really depends on the district. I remember liking the school lunches in California. I genuinely looked forward to pizza fridays. On the flip side, most places in Alaska will give you a pathetic sandwich, a badly bruised apple, a generic oreo, and a milk on the verge of expiration.

On an unrelated note, does anyone have any suggestions for meatless meals? Trying to do a meat fast, and don't have much of a repertoire outside of soups, salads, and baked fish.....fish and seafood doesn't count as meat because reasons.

Methinks I used too much butter for this grilled cheese.

I used to help the lunch ladies serve lunch because I got free food and a cookie.

    The cookies were great.

Ground turkey is the best meat for taco kits. So good.

My high school cafeteria had massive chewy cookies that I've never seen since and have never been topped imho

Honestly I don't like it at all for tacos. Too much gristle. I've determined recently that I can tell when ground meat has a higher fat content. Gets stuck in my teeth real bad.

I'd say beef is better but it's not a wide gulf. The ground turkey is a good substitute

Ground turkey is something like 97% fat free.

Yes. Deglaze that pan with some chicken stock instead of water. I prefer it to beef now. I never thought I'd say that. But after adding a jalapeno and an onion to the ground turkey, it's just as good, if not better. And so much healthier.

Maybe it's just the meat itself then and how it crumbles hah

Also, to anyone who cooks regularly, buying a case of the Kitchen Basics Unsalted Kitchen Stock 8.25 oz containers was one of the best moves I've made in a while.
    Kitchen Basics Unsalted Kitchen Stock
12 8.25 oz containers for $16 is hard to beat and they're just the right size if you want to use chicken stock in a dish.

Fair enough. I just love the taste.
