Ice and Ice Cream are not the same thing, A does not = B...with the added ingredients to ice cream, of course it's a food. Now, a water based popsicle? That's much more synonymous with Ice, since it's just flavoring and food coloring...I've never wanted to give this so much thought, and now I'm craving Cherry Garcia. Thanks.

 

Ice cream is liquids and sugar*, which is the same thing sweetened iced tea is. The only difference is the state of matter, which in my opinion, does make ice cream a food.

*Disclaimer: Ice cream can obviously be made with different ingredients so this is not applicable to all ice cream brands, but is applicable to the base form of ice cream which is thus expanded upon by many companies.

The only argument against ice being food is that it fits no classification in the food pyramid. If we're going with all things in the pyramid as food and all outside not food, then it is not food. If we're just going with how it can be consumed, it is food.
