This question is for everyone, but I'll aim it @Fucking Dustin since I know he's a shellfish enthusiast.

Answer honestly...

If drawn butter was not available and you had nothing to dip your crab/lobster/whatever into, would you still love shellfish as much?

Cockail, tartar, lemon juice, lime juice, along with preparing it as part of a dish... Say crab cakes or lobster stew. Dipping shrimp into butter is just weird. Crab, sure.. Lobster, sure... A sign of a good restaurant is when they give you something other than drawn butter with lobster or crab.

 

Fair enough. I guess I personally haven't had crab or lobster that was good enough to eat without something on it.

I hate 30 second-ish long food videos from epicurious and tasty and delish and all of them. I hate them so much.

Good shellfish doesn't need to be dipped in anything. In fact, it shouldn't be.

I agree with this on a base level, but good shellfish can absolutely be elevated with the right sauce.
