Also, I had to catch up on like 15 pages of this thread so I am probably out of the loop but @dhayes if you stop posting round here I will be genuinely sad.

 

I'm a sucker for Pumpkin stuff for sure and love the Hard Pumpkin Cider but I think I bought a Pumpkin type of beer and made my wife drink the rest of the 6 pack

 

What about a classic Sam Adams Octoberfest?

Yeah, even with pumpkin beers the overall flavor is going to differe drastically depending on what type of beer they are trying to emulate. The Pumpkinhead beer though I think is really easy to drink. You get a lot of the tastes of pumpkin pie and there's no hoppy bitter taste and it's also not dark. It's really accessible.

Their Octoberfest is decent.

 

My favorite Octoberfest beer this year is Jack's Abby's Copper Legend

I'll have to find that. I'm a big fan of the maltier Octoberfest beers.

I'm not a big Sam Adams fan, just bought their fall variety pack and most were not great. The Oktoberfest was pretty good though

Hoppy beer is the fucking worst. I understand the struggle.

But for real, get the leinenkugels one when winter comes around.

 

Pumking is fantastic but man it gets me drunk.

Also, I got the Sam Adams fall pack as cheap beer for a party and I still have so much of it left because it was terrible. The Campfire Blonde is perhaps the worst idea anybody has every come up with and the Hoppy Red was absolutely disgusting.

 

I didn't hate the Hoppy Red but I dunno a lot of IPAs so the hoppiness didn't bother me. Didn't love it though.

The Bonfire Blonde is like someone poured a bottle of liquid smoke in during fermentation. Really bad

My problem with hoppy beer is that everyone has gone overboard with it. Like everything has hops in it now to the point where beer is becoming homogeneous. There's a certain point where our palates can't even discern differences in level of hopped bitterness but companies just ride this fad of being like, we put 9 bajillion different types of hops, our btu is so high we can't fit it on the bottle.

 

Is hoppy beer beer for bunnies?
