I feel like that's only true if you use it all the time or don't change the oil. My parents used to have one and I don't think we had that problem

Yeah, if you use it once in a while, it's no big deal. If you use it for everything, it will happen.

 

I feel like we did use it a lot. My parents only cooked a few meals a week so we kept a lot of frozen chicken nuggets and mini corn dogs etc and ate those a lot

 

Maybe you didn't notice? Even if I pan fry I can smell it on me and in my apartment. Or maybe your house has excellent ventilation? How often did you change the oil?

 

What I really want is a good cast iron pan and a cooking thermometer.

 

No idea but I remember it was a pain in the ass because we had to pour it into a jar and dump it in the field behind our house

I'm sure that's not the preferred method of disposal

@Colby Searcy Naw. I've tried not to. I used it a few times when I first got it and fried up every frozen food I could think of, then started battering random things and dropping them in. The house just smelt bad and obviously it's not the best for you, so I put the thing up and haven't looked back. I may bust it out if I have some friends over or something, but I probably won't use it again just for myself.

I don't have chicken thighs, though. So I'm gonna cut 2 breasts in half so that they are about the same size. I'm sure the difference will be negligible. I will report back after I have consumed it.

White meat is no substitute for dark

 

That's what I worry about.

 

I prefer white meat most of the time, but the times I have put chicken breasts in the crock pot, it's come out fairly dry (which was surprising)

I'd suggest making sure you have plenty of liquid in the crock pot and don't cook them too long. Good luck, and report back. The recipe looks delicious.

I put breasts on my crock pot a few weeks ago and they cane out really well. They fell apart easily like puked pork, which was great because I used them to make bbq sandwiches I think
