This is what Swiss people call “cheesecake” (“Chäschueche”). It’s made from actual cheese (often Gruyere and Emmentaler) and some other ingredients and you eat it fresh out of the oven, usually with a green salad.

I'd probably just eat the grilled watermelon without the bread, but its sure is visually appealing

I found the assembly a little tricky but other than that it was pretty easy to do. I made the filling and dough last night so all I had to do today was assemble and bake. The pastry is soo flaky and buttery.

My roommate said she was craving zucchini bread and I happened to have a nice zucchini I got at a farm stand this weekend so we made it happen. Inside had a cinnamon sugar layer so it’s more of a coffee cake than a bread but still excited for this.

So good. If you ever want a more accessible version, try Yakitori Totto. If you want an even more elevated version, try Torien.

I was very happy with how this turned out. Doing a wet brine really makes all the difference with poultry.

got some apples from the farmers market and they were too tart for me to eat and I didn’t really feel like doing a pie so I made an apple buckle and it was great. E7776A7B-7895-440B-A484-C23F7FE3CF7C.jpeg

finally spent a weekend making croissants. definitely have room for improvement but I’m happy with them for my first try. also made a loaf of milk bread since I had all the ingredients and that was delicious and pretty easy.

Curious of an opinion- if my instacart order got me thin sliced chicken breast instead of regular chicken breast, would baking without flattening it with a mallet be pretty similar to regular chicken breast that is flattened with one?
