Matt is a better cake decorator than me but I know how to slice a cake in half

Oh hell yeah. I used to make these all the time at a restaurant where I worked. It was typically a grilled cheese sandwich with pulled pork, caramelized onions, bacon, gouda, cheddar, and a BBQ sauce made with Angry Orchard. So good.

The falafel could use some work but overall pretty happy with this. I got to use a ton of parsley from my garden in the salad and falafel which was great.

I made the raw tomato-olive sauce I was talking about. Aside from olive as and tomatoes it has garlic, basil, olive oil and umeboshi paste in it. As far as I can tell the latter was a solid replacement for anchovies. I gently blended it so that it still has some whole tomatoes and olives in it. I like how it turned a little purple because of the blending.

 

Why did I never think to make paste from my umeboshi??

She's doing really well! Thanks for asking.

We went on a walk a few days ago, she's still relearning some of her fine motor skills and she gets really dizzy with too many direction changes and with things like stepping down from a curb, so I have to sort of support her and we walk really slowly and a guy on a park bench told us we looked so lovely together it made him cry. It was very nice.

This was so overwhelming and with everything else going on in the world it really felt almost like it was too much but, strangely, all of the outpouring of love and support has given us a lot of hope.

I'm just so, so thankful I didn't lose her.
