The older I get and the more I cook, the more I realize the dishes where I use like 5 ingredients are more delicious and satisfying than something with like an overload of flavors/spices/other junk

 

Definitely, especially when it comes to European food

 

Yess. The more I think about it the more exceptions I can think of but I’ll just stick with what I said haha

 

It also depends a lot on the quality of ingredients

 

I'm obsessed with making simple pasta dishes right now, ala cacio e pepe or al limone. and now working from home every day it makes it much easier to make them for lunch occasionally which is really nice

I feel very fortunate to work for the state so I have relative financial stability and certainty. My heart is breaking for my brother and everyone in the food industry right now.

Let's do a quarantine cook-off for charity or something.

I am well. I am still employed, thankfully. Work is killing me, but I'm cooking more than ever. I'm sorry to hear about your brother! It can't be easy right now.

 

Maybe each contestant chooses a Food Service related charity to play for. Then we all donate what we can. I'd be willing to put up money or match donations. Maybe we could Jason to judge or something?

Glad you're still working. Hope you're able to stay safe and sane. Cooking has gotten so weird right now. Like, I've reverted to like really simple stuff because I don't have access to ingredients nor do I want to be in the grocery story slowly perusing over things. It's really forced me back to the like simple, delicious, filling, and nutritious stuff.

 

I like this idea! I think the simpler the better is key for the format of it. I've been cooking a lot of things I've wanted to learn to make that I never have. I've made fresh pasta a few times now too. I completely understand your situation though.

 

I’m actually currently applying for jobs. Great timing. The caveat that I want to work from home only because my mom can’t be isolated and is over 70 doesn’t make it any easier, but that’s how it’s gotta be.

 

I'm hoping that places realize that people can still be productive from home, and they could save money on renting space. And like why should you be punished for being a good person and taking care of your mother? Good luck, my guy, stay safe and healthy. I'm pulling for you.
