I used the left over Korean beef and made a pizza using Gochujang sauce as the base and added Asiago and mozzarella cheese with onions.

Anyone know how dangerous it is if we accidentally heated a pizza box to 400 degrees Fahrenheit that still had one of those tiny round white table things that they put in the center of a pizza to keep it from smushing? Had it in there so the cat wouldn't tear into it and forgot it was in there when my gf went to make some frozen food.

The melted plastic stayed in the box, nothing leaked in the oven, but it stinks in here. Currently have it on self clean and every window open, but darn.. guess I'm going to have to boil some hot dogs now since self clean takes 3.5 hours haha

 

Just read that it's highly recommended to never use a self clean feature in an oven because it can give off fumes like carbon monoxide, burns through your electric bill, and sometimes actually breaks the oven itself and makes it need repairs

What the fuck, why is this a feature?! Had it running for 35 mins on self clean (it wanted to run for 3.5 hours) but now turned it off. Still have all windows open but hope us and the cat are safe

Yeah it sounds like at a minimum, you want to hand clean out any oils and food debris, and pull out the racks beforehand. And at that point, what's the point? You've already done the hard part lol. But yeah, they've been known to fry control boards and temp sensors and can result in costly repairs. But I guess just food in general burning at 1000 degrees can put off dangerous fumes, and using self cleaning ovens are known to kill pet birds because they have very sensitive respiratory systems

I did a bit of research and it looks like the plastic table thingy in the pizza box is made of polypropylene and that’s one of the safer plastics. The plastic polymer itself is more like wax but it’s any additives/plasticizers in the plastic that may be harmful. Overall I think you’re good if you ventilated!!

Made cheeseburger empanadas last night. Ran out of hamburger we mixed up so I cooked some apples in butter and spices and threw them in the rest of the puff pastry with some goat cheese and holy fuck they were delicious.
