I know alot of blogs/youtube channels say joes is the 'quintessential" NYC slice.

But I've had sooooo many better slices.

 

Yeah. The sauce was the problem for me. Way too much sugar.

 

I went to a place in Portland last year and they put fresh basil on raw fish for one course and it paired up so well and was something I would have never thought would be that good

 

This is the St. Marks I know. Prolly 3 restaurants within 30 miles

 

That sounds really good! Do you remember the name of the place? I’m actually going up to Portland next weekend with some friends from college

Yes, in ME. It was Hugo's. We did the tasting menu when we went but they had a regular menu there as well. It's next door to Eventide Oyster

I take food very seriously

 

I have the same thing in my iphone notes. I keep record of restaurants in different cities that I love and would go back. Then theres a list of places I want to go.

 

Love that! Going to new places and researching places to eat is like half the fun of travel lol

 

I'm a big fan of using the starts, hearts, and flags in Google Maps to keep a list of places. although, recently found out that there is a 500 cap on the starred places and I'm losing my mind. it's deleting older places now I think.

 

Absolutely! I LOVE researching all of the food/drink options in every place I go to in the weeks leading up to actually traveling.

 

I should have been doing this for the past ten years :O

 

haha I've been doing it for a while now. when I first started saving spaces in there it was just stars, then they rolled out hearts for favorites and flags for 'want to try'. I've been trying to slowly update everything but it's a herculean task when I am at the 500 cap.

attempting to give Apple Maps a try and their collection feature that you can customize. I have collections for restaurants, stores, tattoo shops, bars, breweries set up right now and slowly buidling it up.

also, Google should know when a place is permanently closed and remove that star or whatever. sorry for the rant, this has very much been on my mind the past couple of days lol

 

I had no idea this was a thing and now I gotta start doing that.

 

@K0ta I just watched that munchies video and looked up Lil Frankies online.

It is now on my list of places I need to go.

 

Heck yeah!! They had some good recs on that video. Lil Frankie's was definitely worth it.

 

Made vegan ricotta stuffed eggplant tonight. Made sauce, vegan parm and ricotta from scratch for it.

 

looks great! I've never thought about using eggplant like this, I typically do eggplant parm. But now I def wanna give this a shot. How'd it turn out?

 

Boy do I love food! I think it’s the taste that really draws me in. Sustenance comes in a close second.
