Tonight I thought I deserved a piece of pie and was like yeah I can have a lil treat. But then I remembered I also had a cupcake this afternoon and then a cookie later in the afternoon and then this piece of pie so ooooop

German food is great, generally simple, but great. The thing I miss most about where I used to live is this place called Speisekammer. Awesome German food/beer.
Has anyone ever made pesto with carrot greens/tops? Thinking of trying it tonight. I want to add tarragon to it too. I don't know if that will work? I have no idea. I might end up with a lemon-tarragon vinaigrette instead. I have the dish envisioned pretty well. Seared scallops, carrot & habanero puree, roasted Brussels sprouts. So then pesto and a lemon vinaigrette? Or maybe just the tarragon-lemon vinaigrette. IDK. Gonna have to experiment a lot unless someone has advice.
Carrot green pesto did not work out very well.

It was great! I nailed the scallops, better than I ever have, and the whole meal came together nicely. The carrot tops just reminded me too much of grass and not the kind I smoke.
I'm trying to figure this out too. Except it's NYE dinner for 8-10. Multiple courses. Gonna cook all day. I considered pot roast/scotch beef with mashed potatoes, sauteed green beans & carrots. Thought about steak too. Maybe boredelaise?

I'm doing Christmas dinner for 8 and trying to figure out what to do. I want to do an all belly porchetta but not sure if everyone will be ok with that. I've done prime rib, beef wellington, and bacon wrapped fillets in the past but kinda want to try something different. I've always done twice-baked potatoes, yorkshire pudding, and prosciutto and Neufchâtel cheese wrapped asparagus as sides too but not sure if I'll be doing those again or not. I can't make up my mind what I want to do this year.
